Building and Sustaining Relationships

It is important not only to Initiate and establish relationships, it is equally important to sustain them. Often we allow relationships to be disrupted, disrupted by our behavior. At those times, when your loved one is distressed, what do we tend to do, either defend ourselves or quickly patch by kind words. Other times or most of them we do not even realize what has happened. To stabilize our relationship, it is important that we first become aware of our own feelings, emotions, why do we hurt, cause distress. Withdraw and feel your emotion and find the trigger within you. What is it that you are doing or not doing to cause instability. However, what you may try, you relationships do destabilize and start vacillating, it is important that we recognize and work towards fixing them and therefore sustain them.
To build and sustain relationships, you use the two magic words, appreciation and thank you. Be it your spouse, your lover, your friend, your child, it is very easy for us to take these relationships for granted and forget to nurture them. Your spouse works hard say "thank you" for that. Say thank you to your child for loving you unconditionally. Say thank you to your lover for being there and waiting for you when it can be so hard to do so in love. Say thank you to your friend with whom you gossip. Acknowledge their importance in your life by "thank you for being there" notes. Simple actions, such as these work to regenerate and enrich the source, positive feelings and emotions. Emotions manifest in physical desire, take form of passion, take form of care. It is therefore important to nurture emotions of love, empathy, and care within you and garden your relationships with the same.
A word of acknowledge, thank you, appreciation can cause someone to radiate happiness. So, work towards nurturing relationships by building awareness of your own emotions and by appreciating all those who we care for in our life.
We all strive and wish for balanced relationships. However, sustaining them is tougher and complex. Take time therefore to say "thank you for being there".
